Earning a credential demonstrates your commitment to your career and gives you valuable insights and real-world skills you can use on the job. Credentials also validate your knowledge and skills, enhance your credibility, boost your confidence and earn you respect among clients and peers.
Certified Apartment Managers (CAM)
SLAA hosts the Certified Apartment Managers (CAM) Course twice per year (spring and fall).
The Spring 2020 class will begin on February 11, concluding on or around March 5. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm in the SLAA office.
If you are interested in registering for this course, register and pay your $100.00 deposit to hold your seat by January 17. Balance is due prior to the beginning of class. The SLAA Office will contact you shortly.
Earning your CAM credential allows you to demonstrate your skills, knowledge, and ability to manage an apartment community and achieve owners’ investment goals.
Course fees: $550.00/members & $800.00/nonmembers
Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS)
SLAA will be offering the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designate course on 5 consecutive Wednesdays – beginning July 22, concluding on August 19, from Noon – 6:00 pm in the SLAA Office. Attending each class is mandatory.
Earn your Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor designation to enhance your leadership skills, better interpret property results and track progress toward property or portfolio objectives. Whether you are a new or experienced portfolio supervisor, enhance your knowledge and on-the-job performance.
If you are interested, meet the necessary requirements, and most importantly, your schedule permits, please register for the class, and pay your $100.00 deposit to hold your seat no later than Monday, July 1st. Your balance will be do prior to class beginning. The SLAA office will contact you shortly.
To obtain a CAPS designation you must:
- Have worked as a multi-site supervisor for 24 months or be a CAM, ARM or RAM designate in good standing with 24 months of management experience
- Successfully complete the five courses listed below (which total approximately 30 hours)
- Meet all examination requirements, within 24 months of declaring your candidacy for CAPS.
To maintain a CAPS designation, you must:
- Pay annual renewal dues of $100.00
- Beginning at your second renewal, report six Continuing Education Credits (CECs) earned during the preceding year.
Course fee is $650.00 for members, $900.00 for nonmembers.
National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP)
SLAA will be hosting the National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) in the spring and fall; March 18 & 19 and November 11 & 12, from 8:30 – 4:00 each day. Lunch will be provided each day as well.
Course fee is $400.00/members and $650.00/nonmembers
Leasing professionals are the first people prospective residents meet, and often their only gauge of the property staff. This course is designed to teach these professionals skills to help them become top producers.

If you or any of your staff members are interested in taking this course, please register and pay the $100.00 deposit by Friday. February 28 (spring class) or Friday, November 29 (fall class). The SLAA office will contact you to discuss the course.
Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT)
Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) will be offered in the fall of 2020. Tentative dates are -

February 11 & 18, 2021

Certified Apartment Supplier (CAS)
The Certified Apartment Supplier (CAS) course is offered in the spring and fall, in conjunction with the CAM course (spring & fall). You must have worked in the apartment industry for at least 12 months; successfully complete required courses, and supplier’s success (which totals approximately 30 hours).
