Committees

SLAA's working committees are designed to promote member involvement. Committees are the lifeblood of association. They are the vehicles by which organizations meet objectives and accomplish goals. Whether it’s maintaining bylaws or creating a program for one of SLAA's signature events, committees keep the lights on and the association moving forward.

SLAA's WORKING COMMITTEES INCLUDE:

COMMUNITY AWARENESS

This committee meets 4 - 6 times per year to plan and execute events to help foster community outreach. Events include a Personal Care Items Drive, School Supply Drive, Holiday Social, and Bowling Social. Outside of the planning meetings, the committee gathers to make and deliver sandwiches for St. Patrick’s Center at least twice per year.

DOWNTOWN STL LIVING

The mission of this committee is to positively promote Downtown St. Louis as a great place to live, work and attend events in order to make it attractive to potential developers, investors, and residents. To make strong connections with key decision makers in Downtown St. Louis and with each other, as property managers of various apartment communities, to share information and support one another.  The Committee meets virtually 6-8 times per year and plans 2-3 events in Downtown St. Louis.

LEGISLATIVE / GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

This committee monitors city, state, and federal legislation and regulatory issues, ensuring that your views as a rental housing owner are considered. Committee members meet quarterly at the SLAA Office.  This committee also meets with local politicians and community leaders.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & PUBLIC RELATIONS

Committee members participate in ongoing efforts to recruit, retain, enhance value and welcome new members to the SLAA. This committee is also responsible for staying abreast of the latest social media platforms. We are looking for members with experience in writing articles and press releases that are published in the local newspapers and our web site.

NEXTGEN - Must be 40 years old or younger

NextGen encourages networking, education, and provide mentoring opportunities for the next generation of our industry! This committee meets 4-6 times per year to help plan networking events, seminars, and outreach days for its members.

PROGRAMS AND EDUCATION

This committee determines the focus of each year’s educational programs, including topics and speakers for educational seminars. They begin in May, and continue thru the summer until the next year’s calendar is completed.

SIGNATURE EVENT COMMITTEES INCLUDE:

FALL EXPO AND SEMINAR
