Committees

SLAA's working committees are designed to promote member involvement. Committees are the lifeblood of association. They are the vehicles by which organizations meet objectives and accomplish goals. Whether it’s maintaining bylaws or creating a program for your annual awards banquet, committees keep the lights on and the association moving forward.

HERE ARE SLAA's WORKING COMMITTEES

COMMUNITY AWARENESS

This committee meets 4 - 6 times per year to plan and executie events. Each year, they plan our Food Drive, School Supply Drive, Holiday Social and Bowling Social. Outside of their planning meetings, they also gather to make sandwiches for St. Patrick’s Center a couple times per year, then are available sporadically throughout the year to help with pickup/drop off of materials, to deliver Hatching Hope boxes, etc.

FALL EXPO AND SEMINAR

Committee members plan and execute the annual trade show and educational seminar. The committee meets monthly, beginning in June to plan, build attendance and sell booths.

GOLF CLASSIC

The Product and Service Council, along with approximately 5 volunteers execute the tournament each year. Planning begins in June and continues as needed.

Volunteers for Golf Classic:

For your planning purposes, the busiest time of the day at this event is from 7:30 am – 9:30 am.  Once the golfers leave the area to start play at 10:00 am, volunteer duties are complete.  Call Deb in the SLAA office (314.205.8844) to confirm help is still needed.

Another great option for those of you that want to network with your colleagues that day, join us for dinner and awards at approximately 4:00 pm.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

This committee monitors city, state and federal legislation and regulatory issues, ensuring that your views as a rental housing owner are considered. Committee members meet by-monthly on the first Wednesday at Noon, in the SLAA. Office.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & PR/SOCIAL MEDIA

Committee members participate in ongoing efforts to recruit, retain, enhance value and welcome new members to the SLAA.

This committee is also responsible for staying abreast of the latest social media platforms. We are looking for members with experience in writing articles and press releases that are published in the local newspapers and our web site.

NEXTGEN - Must be 40 years old or younger

NextGen encourages networking, education, and provide mentoring opportunities for the next generation of our industry! This committee meets 4-6 times per year to help plan networking events, seminars, and outreach days for its members.

PROGRAMS AND EDUCATION

This committee determines the focus of each year’s educational programs, including topics and speakers for educational seminars. They begin in May, and continue thru the summer until the next year’s calendar is completed.

RISING STAR AWARDS BANQUET

Committee’s goals are to coordinate the nomination and judging process, as well as the sponsorship recruitment, in order to provide an elegant banquet through selection of theme, décor and program content.

If you would like to join a committee or have any questions, please contact the SLAA staff at info@slaa.org.
