Why should multifamily companies and supplier partners join SLAA?

Membership is open to companies that own and/or manage properties within the multi-family housing industry, as well as companies that would provide a product or service to the industry.

When you join the St. Louis Apartment Association (SLAA), you become a member of the National Apartment Association (NAA), and the Missouri Apartment Association (MAA). With your membership in the SLAA, you have many benefits available to you, which are outlined below.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the SLAA office at 314.205.8844, or via email at info@slaa.org.

Networking Events

Networking with your industry peers is a valuable resource.  SLAA hosts a variety of special events that members are encouraged to attend.  These events allow members to learn with their colleagues, seek out new products and solutions, and build a professional network.

    Education

SLAA develops and organizes educational programs and seminars and other educational forums for the benefit of the members and the industry.

SLAA, in conjunction with the National Apartment Association offers designated credential courses, designed to help raise professionalism in property management and provide better services to apartment renters and owners. Earning a credential demonstrates your commitment to your career and gives you valuable insights and real-world skills you can use on the job.

    Credential courses offered include:

Leasing professionals are the first people prospective residents meet and are responsible for generating traffic, conducting leasing demonstrations, overcoming objections, and qualifying prospective residents. This program teaches all these skills and more.
Whether you are a property manager or new to property management, this course provides in-depth training and expertise just for you! Earning CAM credentials gives you the skills to increase your community's net operating income; the knowledge to effectively manage an apartment community; and most importantly, the ability to achieve your property owners’ investment goals.
This program’s curriculum emphasizes recruiting, retaining and engaging high-performing employees. You’ll also learn how to analyze and report property and portfolio financial results, conduct due diligence and community takeovers, and oversee management agreements.

A valued supplier partner has a deep understanding of the apartment industry. This course helps you gain that insight so you can better position your products and services to meet industry needs. This course is ideal for new salespeople and helps industry veterans gain further knowledge of apartment community operations.

Maintenance expenses are the single largest controllable element in any operating budget. This course acts as an introduction for new maintenance professionals or as a refresher for the veteran employee, teaching what it takes to run a cost-effective maintenance program.

    Online Membership Directory

SLAA members (both owner/management companies and suppliers) are listed on our website, so this is a readily available resource to all our members.

    Connect With Prospective Employees

SLAA members can connect with potential candidates for job openings through our Career Center page.  Here you will find local employment opportunities for leasing agents, property management, maintenance, and more.

    Industry Tools

Tools that will benefit your operation, such as the NAA Click and Lease digital program are available to SLAA members.  With this resource, you can enhance leasing compliance and delivery in a convenient and cost-effective way.  Additional details can be found on the NAA’s website.

    Legislative Advocacy

SLAA members limit their liability by keeping abreast of the latest legislative issues and regulatory compliance. A portion of your dues pays for the services of our lobbyist in Jefferson City, who lobbies on behalf of the multifamily housing industry. Each year, staff and board members visit Capitol Hill in Washington to review industry issues and policies.
SLAA members promote the enactment and enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and regulations beneficial to the multi-housing industry and free enterprise.

Through its Legislative Committee, SLAA is keeping members informed of proposed changes in laws that will directly affect your property. We monitor relevant issues, property taxation, building codes and restrictions and landlord/tenant relationships.
