2009 SLAA Holiday Social

SLAA Holiday Social
Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Oh, what a night it was!

The St. Louis Apartment Association’s Annual Holiday Social took place on Wednesday evening, December 9th.  Over 40 companies and individuals adopted children and families from St. Vincent Home for Children and Angels' Arms.  It was an incredible evening!

Mr. Claus (aka, Mark Steinlage) arrived at about 7:15 to the tune of “Jingle Bells”, to greet our special guests and begin presenting the gifts.  The kids were excited to visit with our guest from the North Pole.

This note was received the very next morning!

Dear SLAA Members,

I wanted to thank you so much again for everything last night.  The meal was delicious and we are still so overwhelmed by all the presents that were purchased for our five families and for Angels’ Arms.  We just can’t thank you enough!  Our children had a blast and were so excited to see Santa and open their gifts.  We truly appreciate your generosity and for partnering with us this year.  We are very honored and blessed to be a part of this.  Thank you for helping us support our mission and provide the needs for our five foster families.  Our families all had such a wonderful time.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You!

Gratefully,

Tricia Kuda, Angels’ Arms

On behalf of SLAA, we thank all the companies and individuals that contributed to our adopted organizations.  Your thoughtfulness and generosity is greatly appreciated.

In addition to the many gifts for the children and families provided by members, SLAA’s Charitable Fund was utilized to purchase all the remaining items that both organizations had on their wish lists.  This consisted of a MACBOOK and software for Angel’s Arms, and two digital cameras, a WII, and an XBox 360 with Guitar Hero for St. Vincent Home.  The facilities and children will enjoy all of these gifts for many years to come.

The evening also included a raffle, with proceeds to benefit the NAA PAC Fund.  Heather Barger with Village Green won the Playstation, and Keith Vehlewald, with Crown Excel won the IPOD Touch.  Congratulations and thank you for participating!

We also introduced the “$100.00 Handshake”. Two of our committee members, Scott Boone with Banner Properties and Jim Wulkopf with Beckner Painting were secretly holding a $100.00 bill.  The last person to shake either of their hands, would win the $100.00.   Paul Twillman, with Finishing Touch shook Scott’s hand at exactly 8:30 – the deadline.  And, Mary Ann Wallace was the last person to shake Jim’s hand.  Congratulations to you both.  Great networking tool!  This opportunity will be back again at SLAA events.  Who will be the next winner?

It was also a great evening for Monica Gustavsen, NALP, with Gundaker Commercial Group, who was presented with her certificate for receiving her NALP designation, and Ms. Romona West, CAM, with Sterling Properties.  Ramona received her certificate for her CAM designation.  Congratulation to you both on your accomplishment.

On behalf of SLAA, we thank everyone for attending our final event for 2009!  Special thanks to the SLAA Community Awareness Committee members – Scott Boone, Banner Properties, Anna Rohlfing, Gundaker Commercial Group, Sarah Wind and Rosanne Reeder with Camden, Amy Hoff, Consumer Collection Management, Champika Lindskog, with FIELDPOINTE of St. Louis, Jim Wulkopf with Beckner Painting, and my special helpers from Crestwood Management, Jeannette Cox, Suzi Charleton, and Corinne Vogel.  Last but not least, our little elves from Mills who helped us distribute the gifts – Michelle Moenigmann, Nancy Haniford,  Christine Benedict, Kelly Walkenhorst, and Brenda Conway.  I apologize in advance if I missed anyone!
Thanks for all your help!

We wish you a Happy Holiday Season, and a Joyous & Prosperous New Year!
