The St. Louis Apartment Association’s Annual Holiday Social took place on Wednesday evening, December 8th atSpazio Westport – a new venue for our events!

Well over forty companies and individuals adopted young moms and kids from Almost Home! The moms were thrilled, and their kids were adorable!

The night would not have been complete until Santa (aka, Mark Steinlage) arrived to meet our special guests and began presenting the gifts. Moms and kids were able to meet their adoptive sponsor, and visit with Santa for a photo or two.

SLAA Hosts Vendor/Volunteer Day

On October 16, SLAA hosted vendors and individuals that volunteer their time to the success of SLAA.  Mother Nature was not very cooperative, but as you can see above, we knew how to handle that.

Members enjoyed plenty of food and beverages, networked with their colleagues and participated in a friendly game of “Rob Your Member”.  To their surprise, two FREE SLAA memberships were hidden within a bag of shelled peanuts, and a bag of candy corn.  Bath Fitter and Spectrum Cleaning & Restoration were the winners.  Congratulations!

On behalf of SLAA, we thank everyone that attended.  We hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Rockin' Knockin' Bowling Bash, August 12, 2009

EVERYONE comes out for this event. They spend the evening networking with their co-workers, catching up with friends from over the years, and of course, they bowl! Someone mentioned; this event is like going to a high school reunion. A sold-out crowd again, 250 bowlers raised over $2000.00 for the SLAA Charitable Fund! Hats off to you!

The Joy of Giving!

It was simply delightful! Over 220 members, representing 55 companies attended our Annual Holiday Social on Wednesday, December 10th at Orlando Gardens. As anticipated, the most exhilarating part of the evening was watching our special guests, children from Child Center-Marygrove. SLAA members adopted 30 children and presented them with gifts, and many, many items the facility needed to operate their organization. Santa (AKA, Mark Steinlage) brother of SLAA Board Member Chris Steinlage, arrived at 7:00 pm, to the tune of our old favorite song "Jingle Bells", and the festivities began!

In addition, we must give special thanks to Liz Stryker, with Resident Data. Liz coordinated the raffle of a Nintendo Wii. Proceeds from this raffle benefited our responsibility to the NAA PAC Fund. To top off the evening, the winner of the Wii, Jim Ruebsam from Daniel & Henry Insurance, donated the Nintendo Wii to Child Center-Marygrove. The kids' eyes were as big as saucers! What a thrill for them and us! Thanks so much Liz and Jim!

7th Annual Holiday Social

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
- Winston Churchill

Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Orlando Gardens Banquet Center
2050 Dorsett Village, Maryland Heights, MO 63043, from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that at this year's Holiday Social our members will have the opportunity to experience the joy of giving by adopting children from Child Center-Marygrove.

Child Center~Marygrove (CCM) has a rich history of more than 200 years caring for children, teens and young adults, offering a safe and healing environment for its residents. The children at Child Center~Marygrove live and grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, and they have an opportunity to heal in a stable, family-like setting. Professional caregivers provide structure and counseling to help each child overcome personal obstacles and establish responsible, attainable goals for the short and long-term future.

Fifteen boys and fifteen girls, ages ranging from 7 - 13 will be our guests at this year's event. SLAA members will have the opportunity to adopt one of these children. Each one has put together their own "wish list". They have one special item that they want, then they listed a couple of smaller items that they would love to have. Our goal is to have companies or properties adopt one child and bring no more/no less than three (3) gifts for him or her to the social.

Please call the SLAA office immediately to adopt a child. Their specific "wish list" with items our little friends dream of will be distributed from the SLAA Office. Call Karen at 314-205-8844.

On behalf of SLAA, we wish you a Very Happy Holiday Season, and a Healthy, Prosperous New Year!

Educational Fall Showcase & Seminar Educational Fall Showcase & Seminar

"You can bet on a sure thing... SLAA is here for you!

This year's Educational Fall Showcase & Seminar, which took place on Thursday, October 12th, was a huge success!

Due to the steady growth of our association, the showcase was moved to a larger facility this year. SLAA was able to host 65 exhibitors this year at the St. Charles Convention Center, with over 350 property management attendees there to join in the fun!

To kick-off this exciting event, Nadeen Green, Senior Counsel, from For Rent Magazine, presented the ABC's of Fair Housing to over 150 attendees. As in the past, Nadeen finds ways to make learning FUN! SLAA would like to thank Nadeen and our For Rent Magazine team here in St. Louis for sponsoring this seminar.

Another new addition - the SLAA Bookstore. The bookstore was introduced this year to encourage our members to continue to educate themselves. Several publications were available for purchase, focusing on "customer service", "marketing", "self-promotion", and maintenance. This too was well received by our membership.

The best news yet - six new companies came on aboard this month, just so they could participate in the showcase. We welcome our newest members: Buckingham Pest Control, Conservice, Mr. Sandless, Answer Midwest, Reinhold Electric, and Plant Telecom. We hope you enjoyed yourself.

We are looking forward to next year!

Mark your calendar today we are set for Wednesday, September 26th, 2007!
